I will start by introducing the correlation function of local gauge invariant operators in the maximally supersymmetric gauge theory in four dimensions and their relation with scalar products in long-range deformations of spin chains. We are mainly interested in the large-size limit and the comparison with three string interaction. The simplest example we consider is the Izergin determinant, which can be given a fermionic representation. I will present here an alternative, more general combinatorial method to compute the correlation function, and emphasise the relation with difference Macdonald-type operators.
