The relaxation rates for the finite size asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundary conditions can be computed using the Bethe ansatz method. I will describe some details of this calculation for both the forward and reverse biased regime. I will also show how the asymptotics of the current large deviation function in the low and high density regime can be computed using the Bethe ansatz.
